SOCIUM Inc. Signs Strategic Alliance Agreement with LTT Bio-Pharma Co.Ltd.

SOCIUM Inc. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Katsuhisa Horimoto) has signed a strategic joint research agreement with LTT Bio-Pharma Co.Ltd (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; Chairman, President and CEO: Toru Mizushima).

Through this collaboration, drug repositioning (DR) will evolve from an era that relies on “chance” to highly accurate and fast drug discovery based on “strategy”.

・SOCIUM: Using AI to quickly and quantitatively identify new indication candidates for existing drugs and drugs in development 
・LTT Bio-Pharma: Precise screening of drug discovery seeds using a proprietary disease model evaluation system and implementation of clinical trials

LTT Bio-Pharma, a pioneer in DR drug discovery, and SOCIUM, a digital drug discovery platform, will join forces to create a DR ecosystem that combines biology and AI. Under this DR ecosystem, we will explore new possibilities for already approved drugs. By combining the technologies of both companies, we aim to discover drug discovery seeds that have been overlooked by conventional approaches, and to reach patients with limited treatment options as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the collaboration between the two companies is expected to lead to the future integration of LTT Bio-Pharma’s long-standing basic research and drug development activities in China and its strong local partner network, as well as SOCIUM’s track record of strategic alliances with multiple Chinese research institutions. This collaboration is also expected to serve as a core engine to accelerate drug discovery collaborations between China and Japan. The two companies will leverage their global networks to promote drug discovery innovation from Asia to the world.

The two companies will announce specific details of the results of the strategic alliance as needed.
